Kill off Plastic Bags not Wildlife

View the video below and see the impact on wildlife of plastic bags. (Warning it is harrowing.) Then sign the petition.

One State, South Australia, has taken action and banned lightweight, checkout-style plastic shopping bags from 4th May 2009. If South Australia can do it why not the other States?

Environment ministers meet on 22nd May 2009. We have until then to get a message to them: "We, and the creatures in our seas, have had a gutful of plastic bags. Ban them now."

Please sign our petition and forward this page to your friends. We have until 22nd May to collect sufficient numbers of signatures to get a strong message to Environment Ministers.

PETITION

We, the undersigned, urge the State Environment Ministers on the Environment Protection and Heritage Council to follow the example of South Australia and ban lightweight, checkout-style plastic shopping bags by May 2010.
